Two Great Moments in the History of our Club ......
On Friday 24th April 2015, our Club Manager & Head Coach Shirley,
attended an Investiture at the Tower of London.
During the ceremony, Shirley was presented with the British Empire Medal - awarded to her in the 2015 Queen's New Year's Honour's List - for Services to Gymnastics.
Our second memorable moment happened at the 2013-2014 British Gymnastics Annual Awards Evening, held at the Kettering Conference Centre on 8th June 2013, the Club was awarded the coveted and highly prestigious British Gymnastics 'Club of the Year' Award.
At the same ceremony - Club Manager and Head Coach, Shirley Callaghan. BEM, was also presented with an 'Award of Merit' for her services to Gymnastics over a prolonged period.
Read a short account of the evening and view some photos here.
Ladywell Gymnastics Club is one of the oldest gym Clubs in the UK, having been established in 1967 by Jim and Pauline Prestidge.
Current membership is approximately 600, ranging in age from 2 years to adults.
The Club holds the coveted GymMark and ClubMark accreditations, which means that British Gymnastics, Sport England and the
Home Country Sports Councils' recognise Ladywell Gymnastics Club as a safe, effective, professionally run, child friendly Club; which provides a service
within the community that children and their parents can trust and enjoy.
People of any age can enjoy gymnastics. It is a great way to keep fit
and is proven to be a great foundation for other sports. It improves flexibility, strength, co-ordination and spatial awareness - and it's also great fun!
For one child their dream may be to perform a cartwheel - for another it may be to become an Olympic Champion; at Ladywell our aim is to help both make their dream come true.
We offer a wide range of activities for boys and girls of all ages,
and we also run a session for adults on Tuesday evening. Check out the disciplines available or contact us to enquire about joining.
N.B. It should be noted that Ladywell Gymnastics Club and its Management Team operate a zero tolerance policy towards members or their children who consistently ignore the Club's Code of Conduct. This also applies to being excessively rude, either verbally or in electronic communication; or being physically abusive towards any member of Staff at the Club.
Membership will be terminated without hesitation for such behavior.
This also applies to members who, by their actions or behavior, bring the good name of the Club into disrepute - even whilst outside the Club premises.
We are here to provide the best possible coaching to your child (or to you if you attend adult sessions) in a professionally run, friendly, fair and respectful environment. All we ask is that our members treat us and the good name of the Club in the same way.
Parents should also be aware that, if they arrive for a session more than ten minutes after the session has started - your child will not be able to participate in that session. Our governing body, British Gymnastics, decrees that every child must complete a warm-up before participating in any training session. After ten minutes have elapsed - this wouldn't be possible.
Timings are taken from the Radio Controlled Clock inside the gymnasium - no other timings will count.
