2009 - Display Day
In recent years the Annual Club Display Day has been much anticipated and this year's event held at the Club on Saturday 10 October was no exception. The inclusion this year of a selection of two, three, four and six year olds proved a resounding success and the two sell-out houses gave the young children and the other gymnasts on display a very generous reception.
The toddlers really stole the show with their fantastic skills and fearless work. The older gymnasts', who included many Regional Champions and London Youth Games medallists didn't disappoint with some fantastic skills of their own on display. The only sad note of the day was what will probably be the last ever floor routine by Club stalwart and the Club's longest serving member - Simone MIng. Simone has been at the Club an incredible 13 years!. Despite not having had time to do much training in preparation, Simone did two very complex vault and tumbling displays - several individual apparatus displays, two full floor routines - which included two double-back somersaults in each - and two full Club Display Team performances - an amazing feat of supreme skill and stamina from this incredible athlete whose stunning performances will be sorely missed at the Club. Luckily for all of us, SImone has agreed to stay on at the Club as a coach.
The event was a fund-raiser and was very successful in this regard with a total of £617 raised, including two very generous donations.
Below are a small selection of photos' taken on the day.
