The Lewisham Borough Mayor's Sport Awards 2012 - for achievements in 2011 - were held at the Broadway Theatre, Lewisham on 23rd February.
As usual the event was hosted by the Mayor, Sir Steve Bullock, and the Club and individual gymnasts from the Club, who represented the Borough, received numerous awards.
Displayed below is a list of the awards and their recipients. Club Manager Shirley Callaghan was delighted that yet again, the achievements of the children at the Club, both as individuals and as representatives of the Borough have received such important and sustained recognition. She feels this is testament to the incredibly hard work invested throughout the year by these young athletes and their coaches as well as the other permanent staff and all our brilliant volunteers.

- Shirley Callaghan - Runner Up in the Coach of the Year category for the third year in succession - Shirley also won this award in 2004 - all richly deserved for the many years of dedication and care Shirley has given to the Club and the children of Lewisham.

- Shirley displaying her award for second place in the Service to Sport category.

- Club Coach and Assistant Manager Sinaid accepting the award for third place in the prestigious Club of the Year category. The Club has finished in the first three in this category for the past five years; winning the award in 2009.

- The Team Gold award was made to the London Youth Games, Lewisham Girls Tier 2 Gymnastics Team, comprised entirely of Ladywell Gymnastics Club girls. Well done to Celeste, Quynh, Edith, Alice, Chloe and Maisie. You are a model of consistency and a credit to Lewisham

- The Girls Tier 2 Gymnastics Team shared the accolade of London Youth Games Team of the Year with the Boys Basketball Team. This group of girls have been knocking on the door of winning this award for some time and it is fantastic for them to have been acknowledged in this way at last. Well done girls and Coach Sinaid.

- Quynh with her award as the London Youth Games Female Sports Star of the Year. This award is very deservedly given as Quynh has competed in every London Youth Games since 2007 and has won more than ten medals during that period. This surely is one very well deserved award indeed. Well done Quynh. We are all delighted that you have won this award.

- Ella with her runner-up award in the Female Rising Star category. Ella was third in this category last year at only nine years of age....a Rising Star indeed considering she is up against people much older than herself in this category.

- Quynh with her award for winning an Individual Bronze Medal in the Floor discipline at the London Youth Games. Quynh has won at least one medal at every one of the five London Youth Games she has competed in. Amazing consistency. Well done again Quynh.

- Ella receiving her award for winning an Individual Bronze Medal in the Floor discipline at the London Youth Games. Well done Ella - hard work always pays dividends.

- Alice with her award for winning an Individual Silver Medal at the London Youth Games. This was a particularly pleasing award as Alice has been a stalwart of the London Youth Games Floor & Vault team for many years - and to win this award in the year she retired from gymnastics to concentrate on her studies is a fantastic farewell gesture to her.

- Celeste with her award for winning an Individual Gold Medal at the London Youth Games. Incredibly - Celeste won an amazing three Individual Gold Medals at the Games. Well done. A really fantastic achievement and fitting reward for all the hard work you put in.
A huge WELL DONE to everyone who received an award - and to all those in the background at the Club who, through your efforts, helped us achieve success in this way..
